On May 11 was the 3rd Ceremony of the Puños Arriba in Havana, organized by the Cuban group MatraKa that promotes young arts.
The ceremony – managed by the famous Maykel Xtremo - awards the best Hip-Hop artists of the year, divided into 4 disciplines: Mc’s, Dj’s, Break-Dance and Graffiti.

We are glad to announce that 2 Havana Cultura artists have been greatly rewarded:
- DANAY SUAREZ: Best Album of the year with Polvo de Humedad, Best Love Song and Best Introduction.
- DOBLE FILO: many awards with their lastest album Despierta, as the award for Best Recording or the award for Best Design.

The annual Havana Film Festival of New York (HFFNY) is an internationally renowned film event introducing its audience to prominent and emerging cinema visionaries by showcasing classics and premiering award-winning movies from and about Latin America and the U.S. Latin community.

The 12th HFFNY will take place on April 7-14, 2011.
The selection of features includes ’Afinidades’, the movie directed by cuban actors Jorge Perrugoria and Vladimir Cruz.

This year the festival will honor the award-wining Cuban diretor Gerardo Chijona, by premiering his latest movie ’Ticket to paradise’, and screening several of his films.]]>

Juanes, the cuban singer, has given a concert on the “Plaza de la Revolución” in Havana, Cuba, previous Sunday 20^th September. The event was called “Concert Peace without Borders” and happened on the occasion of Peace world day to promote tolerance between human beings.

Juanes has invited singers coming from different countries like Argentina, Spain, Mexico and Porto Rico. To represent Cuba, artists like Silvio Rodríguez, Amaury Pérez, salsa band Los Van Van or hip hop bands Los Orishas and Ogguere, among others, played with the Colombian singer. More than half a million of Cubans went on the “Plaza de la Revolución” to attend the event.]]>
As part of the CareFusion festival in Paris, the young pianist Harold Lopez-Nussa will give a concert with his trio at the New Morning next 19th October, 8.30 pm. He will present his new album “Herencia”.

The actor Jorge Perugorria will be the godfather of Havana 7 Cultura, the first occasion of enjoying island’s new talents and creativity. Many artists were present this year. Cuban artist Kumar participated performing at The Havana Cultura Room, an exclusive place specially created by Havana Club for this event at the Cargo.

Havana will become a giant art gallery from March 27th to April 30th. The 10th Havana Biennial creates a unique atmosphere of art all over the city presenting the artists’ works everywhere. More than 150 artists from 50 countries will participate.

This important art meeting was established in 1984. Until now the Biennial was dedicated to the visual arts from Latin America, Africa and Asia, and to artists from those regions living around the world. The restricted focus on the so-called "Third World" or "South" will be expanded, inviting artists from all across the world from now on.

The subject of The 10th Havana Biennial will be : Integration and Resistance in the Global Age.
