I get inspired in Havana, I enjoy Havana and a place they call "El Barracón", which is in Jaimanitas. El Barracón: it was a former slave settlement but all that’s left of that now is the memory. So, today, it’s doesn’t get many visitors. I discovered it just when I was sitting there. Sometimes, I go there and sit down and think about my work because no one goes there, or because there’s a small museum there called the "Casa de la Cultura" that holds a certain fascination. I went there, looking for a place where there was a settlement and found my way there. I said to myself that there’s some force here, so let’s wait and see what happens. I mentioned this to my wife who said to me, "Listen, if you arrived there it’s because you went there for something." She wasn’t looking for the magical or religious meaning of this discovery.
